NetMagic Pro's Job #1 is security.

From the ground up, NetMagic Pro has been built with multi-platform security our number one priority.  NetMagic Pro's  security is predicated on three foundational elements:
a) NetMagic Pro uses existing encrypted communications (where available), including encrypted 3270 communications;
b) NetMagic Pro leverages any existing database encryption.  The NetMagic Pro database has encryption built in, but additionally, if storing the database on MS SQL Server, the  MS SQL Server encryption can also be enabled; and
c) NetMagic Pro leverages the security structures of its host NT/Win2K/XP server.  Locking down the NT/Win2K/XP server, locks down NetMagic Pro.

Additional Security Strengths are discussed here.

NetMagic Pro's Ease-of-Use helps enforce security disciplines.

NetMagic Pro increases security by making password changes quicker and easier.  With shortened time to reset or issue a new password, users are more inclined to follow password change disciplines. NetMagic Pro's password synchronization capability allows the user to have only one password to remember.  Additionally, users do not need to recall password rules from a security guide, NetMagic Pro automatically enforces the password rules of the target platforms.

NetMagic Pro's Security is enhanced by its simple architecture.

NetMagic Pro is highly secure because it does not load agents on desktops, remote servers or mainframes, nor does NetMagic Pro expose any TCP/IP ports to attack.  Indeed many organizations will not allow agent deployments across the enterprise.  NetMagic Pro does login as a remote workstation to the target platform.  If supported by the target password platform, NetMagic Pro can even log in as a non-Administrator.  For example NetMagic Pro fully supports the Password Facility in RACF.

NetMagic Pro is fully integrated with Windows security.

NetMagic Pro is 100% compatible with all Windows NT/2000/XP security rules.  Whatever security rules are done today for the most critical existing Windows Servers can be done on the NetMagic Pro Server, e.g., disable unused TCP/IP ports, install all Microsoft Security Patches, disable unused services, etc.

NetMagic Pro has been built from the ground up to integrate in and take advantage of existing security models.  For example, when using the optional DCOM Enabler Option,

  NetMagic Pro can not even be started without the end user being authenticated to Windows security.  Using this option, NetMagic Pro internal structure comes under the control of Windows Security, thereby taking advantage and being compliant with existing security rules.

NetMagic Pro assists in  HIPAA compliance.

HIPAA  refers to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.  This legislation regulates the privacy, security, and administrative handling of healthcare information. NetMagic Pro never stores passwords, and it enforces the password rules of the target platforms where the passwords are stored.  NetMagic Pro's synchronization of passwords, automation of the password reset process, and ability to do End User Self Service Password Resets contributes to secure administration of user ID and password information.
